THE  WONDER

Hey, yeh, yeh; the wonder!

It’s cold outside;
But the woods are calling me.
I’ll amble and follow the animals’ tracks
And wonder at the richness of nature.

It’s damp outside;
But the fields are calling me.
I’ll tread lightly; following the call of birds
And wonder at the bountifulness of the earth.

It’s gloomy outside;
But the lake is calling me.
I’ll paddle slowly,
And wonder at the aquatic wealth.

It’s dark outside;
But the sky is calling me.
I’ll contemplate the stars and galaxies,
And wonder at the vastness of the universe.

It’s oppressive outside;
But the mountain is calling me.
I’ll climb stealthily
And wonder at such diverse terrain.

Hey, yeh, yeh; the wonder!

I  STRUGGLE

I struggle
I struggle to make sense of it all

I hear a very unusual sound
I behold an unlikely vision
I feel an uncomfortable sensation, and
I sense an unknown presence
I reach out but am unable to touch
I call out but receive no response

Before; it was easy;
Before; it was simple.

I walk; but seem to float
I watch; from above like a bird
I eat and drink; but without any fervor
I reflect; but cannot think clearly
I move with so little vitality, and
I vocalize with such anxiety

It’s disturbing; it’s unnerving
I feel uncomfortable and feel uneasy
It’s unexplainable; it’s unsurmountable
It’s so unclear and so unsettling

My soul seems lost
My body seems strange
My senses seem dulled
My mind seems empty
My motivation is sluggish, and
My mood; depressive

I struggle

COOKIN' UP A STORM

Listen up here! I’m cookin’,
I’m cookin’, I’m cookin’

Be informed: I’m cookin’ up a storm
Be forewarned: I’m cookin’ up a storm

Rinsing, chopping, grating, mixing,
Stirring, beating, cooking and seasoning,
Frying, broiling, boiling, sautéing,
Tasting, plating, serving

Be informed: I’m cookin’ up a storm
Be forewarned: I’m cookin’ up a storm
Cookin' up a storm.  Cookin' up a storm

Carrots have their merits; potatoes & tomatoes,
Broccoli, Zucchini, Celery, and Kohlrabi,
No fuss with lettuce; no stress with water-cress;
Nothing’s hard with Swiss chard, and grated cheese, please

Savor the flavors; come eat my feast (tasty, yummy)
It's an invitation; a celebration

Five spice is very nice; and things get better with pepper
No hassle with basil; let’s go with oregano;
No worries with rosemary; parsley, curry, and savoury;
Thyme is fine and yum, yum, cardamom

Garlic, turnip, onion, daikon
Leaks, beets, beans, peas & greens
Chicory, sesame, jicama, okra, rutabaga,
Gnocchi, macaroni, ravioli, manicotti.

TAKE  ME  HOME

Home; home;
Take me home; home

To rest; to forget
I need to rest, to forget

Take me home

IS  IT  TOO  LATE  ?

Is it too late, to try; to undertake something new?

I want to go where I’ve never been
I want to see what I’ve never seen
I want to feel what I’ve never felt
I want to hold what I’ve never held

I need a new experience; I need a new adventure
I need a new challenge; I need a new exploit

I want to fly like a bird and swim like a fish
I want to run like a deer and hop like a rabbit
I want to play like a child and a dog
I want to sleep like a cat and like a baby

What’s preventing me from trying?
What’s stopping me?  Is it too late in life?

I want to ride a horse; I want to ride a wave
I want to ride a snowboard; I want to ride a skateboard

Is it too late, to try; too late?

WAKE  UP

It's dawn; life goes on
The sun's up; time to get up!

Open your eyes; know that you’re alive
Don’t hide; even though you’re so tired.

Wake up; wake up!

Let the wonder in; let your day begin
Let nature soothe your soul; just let go

Wake up; wake up!

Stretch; breathe; feel wonder and show courage
It’s a new day; be on your way
Feel the energy flow; let go

I NEED  WARMTH

I’m cold; I’m cold and freezing
I’m shivering; I’m shivering and trembling
I’m chilly and numb
I’m bitterly cold and shaking

I need warmth; I need heat
The warmth of the sun; the warmth of the earth
I need warmth; I need heat

The warmth of your touch; the warmth of your love
The warmth from my friends
I need warmth; I’m feeling so cold

I need warmth

LEFT  BEHIND

Left behind; left behind

Trying to catch up; trying to catch up

Searching, searching for the way
Searching, searching for the way

All alone; all alone

Falling further; falling further and further
Falling further and further
Behind

So many hurdles in my way
So many obstacles holding me back
I just can't keep up
Can't keep up

Left behind; left behind

Trying to catch up; trying to catch up
